A 10 year old’s new day of hunting?

I yawned as I awoke. “A new day of hunting!” I thought. I walked slowly into the basement where my dad’s friend let us stay. “Good morning!” My dad greets me. I had been up almost all night last night. I didn’t notice how nice it was to have a TV, fridge, and my favorite of all her dogs, Otto. My dad was on the couch on his computer. I grabbed the remote and flicked the TV on. I tried to put on something that my dad would like as well as me. I did that because I know he doesn’t like cartoons.

“Is it time?” I asked. “Ya.” My dad answered. I went up stairs. When I got to the stairs I opened the gate to let the dogs out. The two German Shepherds came down first. The curly haired one came down second. The little rodent named Bell didn’t come down. I went back down. I opened the door, As soon as I did there was a race to get out first. Bang, Crash, Boom. I knew that it was ball time for the dogs. I couldn’t though. The other dog was still missing. I asked my dad if he saw the dog. He said “Ya it was a pain in the neck to get from place to place. It’s in the cage upstairs.” “Great.” I said I as I went back upstairs.

Sure enough there was Bell. When she saw me she automatically started to bark. I didn’t want to deal with it, so I just opened the cage door and she ran out. I went back downstairs again. “Dad. Can I go outside and play with the dogs before we go out?” I asked “Sure.” My dad replied. I went outside, grabbed a tennis ball an threw it as hard as I could. Dandy and Otto went flying after the ball. Otto had some speed, he was the one to get the ball first. I threw the ball one more time. Dandy waited down where the ball went last time I threw it. Otto was still very fast but not fast enough. Dandy caught this one. Dandy doesn’t share and doesn’t have very good sportsmanship. I watched as Otto tried harder and harder to get the ball but Dandy is a hog. I let it be. I knew Dandy would let go eventually.

I went back inside. My dad was still on the couch. I said,”I think it’s time to let the dogs in. Then we can go out.” “Okay.” My dad answered. I rushed out side and called the dogs. “Otto, Dandy, Bell!” I yelled. Only Otto, Dandy, and the curly haired dog that I forgot the name of showed up. “Where’s Bell?” I asked to myself. I let the rest of the crew in before I went looking for Bell. I let the dogs in. When I shut the door I heard scratching at it. There was Bell. I felt relieved. She came in the door and started barking. I didn’t know how aggressive she could get so I didn’t take the risk. I forced her back into the cage. I went back down the stairs followed by Otto and Dandy. “Hay, dad?” “Ya.” He answered. “Can we give it another hour before we leave?” “Sure.” He replied.

If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost, that is where they should be. Now put the foundation under them.
